„The capabibility to collaborate will be the decisive success factor for non profit organizations in the 21st. Century" (Prof. James Austin, Harvard Business School)
The ongoing trend towards specialisation of institutions and services in the health care sector and in social services leads to lack of integration and to "black wholes" in the chain of service provision but also to double work and limited innovation. Thus many organizations focus on collaboration and on building networks to solve problems in interfaces and to increase the quality not only from a single service perspective but with a more comprehensive approach to the "customer".
The workshop focuses on the specifics of interorganizational collaboration and offers concepts and instruments to solve critical management tasks. The following topics will be discussed: Dynamics of the (cooperative) relationship between independent organizations; Conditions for success in interorganizational cooperation and networks: defining a compelling business case, implementing specific principles and ways of organizing of steering, setting up coordinating mechanisms, improving performance processes across organizational boundaries, designing interorganizational teamwork, handling the driving (and blocking) role of key individuals; Diagnosing and improving collaborative capabilities of partnering organization.
Format: 3 parts
a) Introduction into concepts and methods
b) self organized "research phase" where participants meet in their workplace to discuss their practice in collaboration and networks
c) evaluation of b) and reflection

"Leading Change" focuses on conceptual and practical aspects of organization change theories, methods and tools: How can change processes in organizations be initiated and implemented and what are critical issues in leadership on the individual, the team and the structural level.
The seminar introduces current concepts of change management (process theories, employee engagement, organization design and large group interventions) and uses the case study method as well as practical cases from participants to embed the models anc change tools in "real life" organizational settings.

This module deals with the individual level of
managerial decision making. It centres on the stakeholder approach to
management and teaches methods to operationalize stakeholder management.
Communicative strategies regarding the building of reputation in our media
society are another important focus. Different leadership models and their
implications for ethical management are presented and case studies and
scenarios of ethical dilemma situations will help participants train their
ethical personality and decision style. The special case of human capital
management represents one potential scope of application. After completion of
this part of the course, participants will have a subtle understanding of their
role as responsible managers in a “stakeholder society”. They will be able to
develop stakeholder strategies and communication policies with special regard
to company reputation.
This module includes company and bank visits in the context of micro financing.

In diesem
("the self as instrument").
