Managing Networks: concepts and tools for project coordinators

Lecturers: Hubert Lobnig

Organizer: Fonds Soziales Wien

Location: Wienna

Date: 16.01.12 - 02.02.12

Detail

„The capabibility to collaborate will be the decisive success factor for non profit organizations in the 21st. Century" (Prof. James Austin, Harvard Business School)

The ongoing trend towards specialisation of institutions and services in the health care sector and in social services leads to lack of integration and to "black wholes" in the chain of service provision but also to double work and limited innovation. Thus many organizations focus on collaboration and on building networks to solve problems in interfaces and to increase the quality not only from a single service perspective but with a more comprehensive approach to the "customer".
The workshop focuses on the specifics of interorganizational collaboration and offers concepts and instruments to solve critical management tasks. The following topics will be discussed: Dynamics of the (cooperative) relationship between independent organizations;  Conditions for success in interorganizational cooperation and networks: defining a compelling business case, implementing specific principles and ways of organizing of steering, setting up coordinating mechanisms, improving performance processes across organizational boundaries, designing interorganizational teamwork, handling the driving (and blocking) role of key individuals; Diagnosing and improving collaborative capabilities of partnering organization.
Format: 3 parts
a) Introduction into concepts and methods
b) self organized "research phase" where participants meet in their workplace to discuss their practice in collaboration and networks
c) evaluation of b) and reflection

The special case of human capital management represents one potential scope of application. They will be able to develop stakeholder strategies and communication policies with special regard to company reputation.

Potential assessment and potential development

Lecturers: Dagmar Untermarzoner

Organizer: Danube University Krems

Course: Platform Interdisciplinary Management

Location: Danube University Krems

Date: 15.03.11 - 17.03.11

Detail
